"Bishan Mee Siam . Lontong . Mee Rebus" was setup by us, Irene and Henry. In early years, we sell mee siam, lontong, mee rebus and nasi lemak in packet at the nearby wet market. Although these are the favorite foods from Malay, our style of cooking has attracted lots of supporting customers from the neighbourhood and hence in 2007, we transform our business and start serving dine-in customers.
I learnt my Malay cooking skills from my Malay neighbours during kampong times. All gravies and chilies used by mee siam, lontong, mee rebus and nasi lemak are cooked by me. I did not use MSG in my foods but the taste of all dishes are still good. This all rely on my excellent culinary skills. In order to enhance the flavour of the mee siam and mee rebus, I added in some crispy fried dried shrimp. In fact, frying dried shrimp is not too difficult, but the level of flame control is very important, otherwise the dried shrimp might turn up to be not crispy or fried burnt. Due to the high demand of these shrimp, I got to fry 2 Kg of dried shrimp every week to meet the needs of my customers. How could you miss this stall when you are in Bishan?

| 29 Apr 2010 | Mr Wong / Editor | Another Chinese chef that cooks Malay foods as well as the Malay. Owner actually learnt it in Kampong times and her mee siam, mee rebus and lontong are very popular in Bishan. I like their mee rebus… gravy was good, especially when mixed with the fragrance fried dried shrimp, no MSG was added, that is the best part, you wouldn’t feel thirsty after the meal. Great job, keep it up! All Malay food lovers should give it a try, Bagus!!! |
