My father, son-in-law of Hock Lam Street Beef Kway Teow's founder, had learned how to make the dish from him for a few years and later branched out to start his own stall in Empress Place in 1971. I named my stall Empress Place Teochew Beef Kway Teow in honour of my father's version. I don't want to use the Hock Lam name, even though our noodles originated from there. My speciality is dry beef kway teow, which comes without gravy. Tasty with very tender beef. The chilli is to die for. Come and try it. |
