Jian Ji noodles recipe originated from Borneo and has its history dated back to the 1950s. This recipe was inherited from the late Mr Kan to his daughter, Mdm Kan, who then passes it on to her daughter, Pauline. Mr Kan who came from the Guangdong province in China to Borneo started his noodle business in a pushcart, selling it along the roads. Through his hard work and continuous improvement on the noodle taste, the business improved over the years and he succeeded in moving it to a shop which is very popular among the locals there and is currently managed by Mdm Kan. Now it is here in Singapore at Rochor managed by me, Pauline.
The chef’s recommendation is its very own House Special Meat Sauce Wanton noodle / Mee Tai Mak which is of a different style from the wanton noodles around Singapore. Jian Ji also believes that every single ingredient plays an important part to the unique taste of their wanton noodle hence no compromises are made with ingredients selection and food preparation in order to retain the uniqueness. Definitely worth trying! Other specialities include mushroom chicken feet, prawn dumpling and pork ribs noodles.

| 3 May 2011 | Jimmy Tan / Accountant | Chanced upon this special noodle house after trying all those ordinary wanton or kolo noodles. I was adamant intially that this should be another similar wanton noodle or so. I have ordered their home special meat sauce char siew noodle and goodness made it indeed surprised me! The noodle is so spongy and the home made sauce is such special that you can differentiate from what you have tried elsewhere. No doubt about it, i felt that is better than the kolo noodles at least. Serving size is great and not pricey especially now most places price their ordinary wanton meet at $3. I’m giving four star for now but 5 star effort on the creation, focus on giving good quality noodle, sauces and varieties! Drop by this noodle house if you dont believe and is very near to mrt station as well. |
| 2 May 2011 | Vincent Tan / Renal Coordinator | Jian Ji Noodle House offer something refreshing as compare to the regular wanton noodle stall. I especially like the Home Special Meat Sauce Char Siew Noodle which is unlike our conventional wanton noodle. It is very appetizing and tasty ,not salty. Fried crispy wanton its also very crispy. |
| 1 May 2011 | Sanny Sutanto / Quality Manager | Got to know the stall from this website few days ago and tried their Home Special Meat Sauce noodle. It’s different from other wanton noodles I’ve ever tried before, minced meat is added onto the noodle, it tastes really good. Tried their prawn dumpling soup too; solid! Will try their pork ribs noodle next time. |
| 29 Apr 2011 | Mr Wong / Editor | This is the first time I came across wanton noodle that comes with minced meat sauce. According to the owner, their signature dish, the “home special meat sauce char siew mee tai mak” was originated from Borneo… 50 years old recipe has came to Rochor and Tiong Bahru. Minced meat sauce has definitely bring up the overall taste of the noodle / mee tai mak / hor fun. The minced meat taste good, char siew is above average, wanton is nice and the soup is not salty compared to others. Other recommended dishes are mushroom chicken feet noodle, dumpling noodle and pork ribs noodle. |
