Peter setup "Katong (Peter) Fried Kway Teow" in 1968, it was located at 228 East Coast Road at that time. With my over 40 years experience in frying kway teow, my stall was very famous in Katong areas.
We used superior broth (brewed by old hen) to fry kway teow instead of normal boiled water as this makes the kway teow taste more fragrance. Together with fresh ingredients and homemade chili sauce, a plate of yummy Char Kway Teow will definitely satisfy your taste buds.
We offer three flavors of fried kway teow, namely Singapore Teochew-style, Baba Nonya-style and Penang-style. Local Singaporeans prefer the Teochew-style taste. We use top quality black sweet sauce, this red-coloured sauce results in sweet taste, the main ingredients are cockles and Chinese sausages. Black sweet sauce is not used for Penang-style, the main ingredient is prawns, which tend to taste salty. Lastly, the Baba Nyonya-style of fried kway teow uses a little bit of black sweet sauce, giving a sweet and salty taste.

| 29 Jun 2008 | Mr Wong / Editor | They offer 3 types of fried kway teow, the local, nonya and Penang style. Local style is darker in colour and taste sweeter, this is the one we used to eat in most of the hawker stalls. Penang style is lighter in colour compared to the local and taste salty. Both are very nice, delicious and yummy. This stall is very famous in East Coast Road and a lot of Mediacorp artistes like to patronize them. Give it a try and you will definitely like it. Btw, did anyone tried to nonya style? |
